You'd think that scientists have investigated just about everything, but, and this is important, there are new studies about never-before researched aspects of our world published daily. Take human screams. Never been analyzed on a scientific basis until now. So what gives a good blood curdling scream the power to freeze us in our tracks, hair on end, ready to fight or take flight? It turns out that a certain property of a scream activates the fear response in the portion of the brain called the amygdala, which pumps adrenaline into our system, making our hearts race as we look frantically for the source of the noise.
