Researchers create a magnetic 'wormhole' in space

(Right) In terms of magnetism the wormhole is undetectable, which means that the magnetic field seems to disappear on the right only to reappear on the left in the form of a magnetic monopole. It's a small first step. A magnetic conduit in which space appears to disappear, a step that may have practical applications in medicine and that may or may not lead to the creation of a true wormhole. This is another example of how early in our scientific revolution we are, and of the potential of current research leading to much larger breakthroughs in the future.
